Description

Role
The successful candidates will join Warwick Evidence and support the critique of a NICE single technology appraisal.  Warwick Evidence is a thriving research group within Warwick Medical School. These internships fall within the Warwick Evidence Technology Assessment Review program, which supports the introduction of cost-effective interventions into the National Health Service.

With interest and expertise in either systematic reviewing, medical statistics or health economics, the candidate will contribute to one of these roles throughout the project being supported by experienced team members. Please note there are two positions available in total.

Duties and responsibilities
Candidates will support the critique of a company submission for a NICE technology appraisal. Each role will involve processing and critically appraising large amounts of technical information, and will require familiarisation with methods and work in the relevant disease area.

The health economist position will focus on the issues influencing the cost-effectiveness. These may include verifying model inputs, searching for alternative sources, evaluating model structure for validity and consistency with other relevant models and reproducing company analyses.

The statistician position will focus on the issues relating to the statistical conduct of the clinical evidence and how these are implemented within the economic model. This may include suggesting and implementing additional analyses, and verifying consistency across analyses and with the statistical analysis plan.

The systematic review position will focus on the reviews of the clinical and cost evidence, evaluating and expanding on searches conducted by the company, and critically appraising the most relevant literature.

The successful candidate will have weekly meetings the relevant senior project team member and also the wider project team, and bi-weekly meetings with their supervisor.

The interns will be supervised by either Dr Dan Gallacher or Dr Peter Auguste.
