Description

Role
This prestigious company  have the ambition of creating the AI companion who understands, cares and supports people dealing with loneliness.

Utilising the companies own algorithms, alongside existing AI engines, large language models, image recognition and metahuman technologies, they want to create an application that understands you, learns, and provides advice and support. By modelling language, sentiment, context and emotion, their AI companion can be there for you each day to chat, discuss, share photos and ultimately help you on a journey out of loneliness towards social engagement with the AI acting as a facilitator to multi-party conversations and social interaction.

The duration for this position is 4-6 weeks working 8-10 hours per week.
Remote work is available.

Duties and responsibilities
To support in the development of the companies application there are three areas in which it would be useful for them to have more detailed research:

  • Compile results of existing research into the increase in loneliness, the cause and impact on physical and mental health and the current challenges for those living with loneliness, the scale of the issue for local health authorities to deal with this and wider social impacts.
  • Insight into the current physical / psychological approaches to supporting people living with loneliness. Are there models and frameworks we can utilise such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy that will elevate the results of our AI in its engagement with users.
  • Summarise the effectiveness of digital behaviour change interventions to provide us with a current and reliable research base to support the development and implementation of effective interventions for people living with loneliness. The combination of these will provide us with the detail we need to properly understand the scale of people we may be able to help along with an understanding of the potential for an App to be used effectively.

Skills and experience
These are skills that may be useful for making the research a little easier but not all are required to conduct the above:

  • Psychological Knowledge: Understanding of psychological theories and concepts related to loneliness, social isolation, mental health, and well-being.
  • Statistical Analysis: Ability to use statistical tools for data analysis. This includes understanding statistical techniques that are often used in psychological research like regressions, t-tests, ANOVAs, etc.
  • Academic Writing: Skills in writing clear, concise, and informative research papers, literature reviews, and grant proposals.
  • Ethics in Research: Knowledge of ethical research practices, especially concerning studies involving vulnerable populations or sensitive topics like loneliness.
