Role

As part of the Go Digital Accelerator programme, Staffordshire University has entered into a partnership an innovative and growing Cannock based company called Premier Platforms Ltd who are UK wide suppliers of work at height solutions (e.g. cherry pickers and scissor lifts). They also provide maintenance services and training to the end users of the equipment. 

We are now looking to recruit a part-time Innovation Consultant to advise on the replacement of their existing paper based ‘T-Card’ process with a digital online system that will be viewed via large screens in the hire office in real-time. This process represents the company assets and fleet availability and by streamlining this process, will increase their workflow tasks and removing the need for handwritten cards.

The required candidate activities includes the following :-

  • Market Research and Technical Investigation
  • Analyse existing CRM software and make suggestions on additional functionalities
  • Ability to utilise the CRM existing platform and cast onto screens
  • Prepare an options matrix on television screens on the market to be installed in the hire office
  • Conduct a focus group with key members of staff gathering their views on the technology
  • Full report/presentation to company providing a roadmap for the technology in the business and cost analysis.

This role is funded by UKSPF and will be supported by an academic member of staff with relevant expertise.

Duties and responsibilities

The Consultant will be provided with a framework around which the project activities are expected to focus.

These activities will include:

  1. Research
  2. Technical Investigation
  3. Software development
  4. Test for external use and refine if needed
  5. Presentation and production of a final report that sets out a roadmap for the system in the business.

While completing this work the Consultant will report to the company/ business supervisor on a weekly basis and be provided with regular support from the Academic Knowledge Exchange Lead and University Project Manager.

The successful candidate will need to have:

  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrate high degree of professionalism in communication, attitude and teamwork with client
  • Effective collaborator with both non-technical and technical team members

This appointment is available on a fixed-term basis for 16 weeks.

This post will be funded by the UKSPF, Levelling-Up funds in partnership with Staffordshire University.
