Role

We have an exciting placement opportunity with our academic and quality team here at Staffordshire University. If you have knowledge around Unreal Engine and Blueprint, then you could be the perfect fit for this 24 week placement. The Simulation Software Developer will be instrumental in the design and creation of a Digital Application focused on designing simulations on PC to then be played in VR.

The post holder will be responsible for attending design meetings, assist in planning features and developing these into an all in one application that instructors can use to make immersive simulations on a PC to be played through in VR.

The focus of this role will be building the experience for the instructor (PC) and student (VR) utilising Unreal Engine and additional assets created by the Asset Artist.

There may be a need for some asset creation from 3D scans so familiarity with Unreal and Blueprint will be ideal.

 

Duties and responsibilities
The successful candidate will be working with the team on:

•    Responsible for core development of a simulation building tool.    
     Including: Coding, Building, Testing, responding to team feedback and acting upon feedback.
•    Working closely with the Asset Artist to implement 3D scanned and designed assets.
•    Working with the TILE team to establish the needs and requirements of the project.
 

Skills and experience

Ideally you will have the following skills:

•    Confident in developing applications for desktop & VR in Unreal Engine.

•    Blueprint experience is desirable but not essential.

 

The candidate the team are looking for would ideally have the following qualities:

•    We are looking for a motivated individual looking to grow their skills and knowledge in games & software development. 

•    Interest in developing cross platform experiences and looking to grow a portfolio of project work focused on games design.

•    Experience of working with in projects and working across multiple stakeholders.

•    Experience of working to tight deadlines.

•    Experience of working across larger teams.

•    Can work across people with varying digital skillset and communicate effectively.

•    Can work flexibly to meet the demands of the project.
