Role

The AutoCAD Technician will support the Estates Information Systems Team configure AutoCAD drawings for the University of Warwick’s buildings in readiness for their import into a new CAFM system.

You will be proficient in the use of AutoCAD. You will ensure all drawings are checked to a prescribed procedure, in a consistent format with relevant title block and scale.

We are looking for someone who can work independently and in a methodical manner, with high levels of accuracy.

Main duties of the job:

1. Responsible for checking and configuring master general arrangement plans.

2. Maintaining the drawing register tracker in accordance with the procedure.

3. Raise queries with the line manager relating to the agreed checklist. 

 

This role is to start ASAP until 31/7/24. 

Duties and responsibilities

Job Purpose:

To work through the drawing files to ensure a consistent structural standard is applied to all drawings, including layering conventions, content compliance and alignment with the published drawing standards for 2D AutoCAD drawings.

To support the uploading of the floor plans into the new CAFM system and alignment with space data, and associated space record elements.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

•    Review each drawing to assess its compliance with drawing standards, and making amendments as advised, or flagging major issues that can’t be amended at source.

•    Maintain a tracker using Microsoft Lists to ensure processes against tasks assigned are easily monitored and that issues found are visible and managed.

•    Support the teams in coordination and production of space management data, providing accurate and up-to-date space management information, including maintaining the space management elements of the CAFM system, manipulating CAD drawings, analysing space use and creating reports for departments and committees.

•    To conduct onsite surveys were necessary to check the accuracy of Estates records against the physical estate.

•    To accept responsibility for other such duties as are within the scope and spirit of the job purpose, the title of the post and it’s grading as deemed necessary by line manager.

Skills and experience

Essential:

Educated to degree level (2:1 or above) in a relevant discipline (Facilities Management /Construction) or HNC/HND with appropriate suitable experience

Autodesk Certification in AutoCAD

Experience of CAD at an advanced level

Detailed analytical and problem-solving abilities

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the focus on customer service

Strong attention to detail; managing a complex workload and ability to prioritise activities and having the ability to organise

Desirable:

Experience of using CAFM databases to support property or estates management

Experience maintaining a database, extracting and manipulating data

Ability to manipulate and query data to produce management information reports, experience with qualitative and quantitative analysis

Advanced competence with Excel, including graphs, charts, pivot tables and formulae or advanced Excel training

REVIT Autodesk certification

Location
There will be opportunity for some of this work to be done remotely, but there is an expectation that some of the time (approx. 40%) will be spent on site. Can be discussed further at interview.
