Role
This prestigious company are an Electrical Engineering and Contractors company. The business is split up into two parts Automation and Installation, they work in various sectors such as material handling, food and beverage, MOD, Aerospace, Automotive and many more.

 
The role they are looking to fill is for a Junior Engineer, primarily Software but there are many aspects within this role, which non are essential to the role as training will be given. Mainly office based, but there will be a requirement to attend site for meetings and commissioning of the systems. 
 
This is a part time position with a maximum of 20 hours per week. Flexible working days are available. 

Duties and responsibilities

  • PLC programming – They specialise with Siemens PLC’s but also use various other makes when required, we program in ladder logic mainly (customer requirement).The role is to learn and help develop PLC systems both hardware selection and building the software program.
  • HMI and SCADA – They develop systems using Siemens TIA or Ifix software generally. They also use many other makes when required.
  • Design and Drafting – They use AutoCAD to produce our control panel Schematics, training will be given to produce or modify existing drawings.
  • Procurement – selecting and getting quotes form wholesalers helping to build systems which will ultimately be in the control panel, this involves hardware design of automation systems, control logic and power distribution to motors and drives
  • Variable speed drives (Inverters) – selection and programming of VSD’s motors can be up to 250KW and as low as 0.37KW
  • To help develop new control systems, or modify existing control systems with additions of equipment and functions
  • Any work completed would be verified by the manager, no direct responsibility would be placed on the candidate, any designs or programming will be thoroughly looked at and discussed before any implementations are carried out.
  • Candidate would need to be able to commute to the office in Cresswell, any other travel to site would be provided by the company. Fuel allowance is offered if own vehicle is used outside travelling to and from their office from there residence.

Skills and experience

  • A general understanding of engineering is required, and the desire to learn and understand is more important than any specific skill base already gained.
  • Basic PLC would be an advantage, or a good understanding of how it works
  • Electrical Engineering core knowledge
