This is an exciting opportunity to join the Staffordshire University ResLife team as a Wellbeing Residential Services Assistant. They are looking for individuals passionate about creating the best University experience for residents.

To support the ResLife team in ensuring that residents living in university managed accommodation are happy, healthy, and safe.

To provide pastoral and mental health support to students in accommodation including conducting welfare checks, flat mediations and drop ins.

To promote and support Residential Support Coordinator events, assisting in producing and running a rounded events schedule to promote positive wellbeing, and resilience building in students within accommodation.

Duties and responsibilities

  • To contribute ideas and help with planning/overseeing well-being events and activities that the Residential Support Coordinator team can effectively host.
  • To work alongside the Residential Support Coordinator team to plan meaningful wellbeing activities catered around students wellbeing and resilience building.
  • To support Residential Support Coordinators in promoting positive mental health and providing/assisting in pastoral care and mental health support for students.
  • To support Residential Support Coordinators conducting support for students including such things as Welfare Checks, Flat Mediations and Drop ins on students in accommodation.
  • To support the Residential Support Coordinators with keeping track of important information, updates and procedures to ensure a smooth transition between shifts
  • To help create an equal, diverse and inclusive environment for students to feel comfortable in.
  • To act as a liaison between the overnight coordinators and other team members to relay important messages or address any issues that arise during the shifts
  • To support Residential Support Coordinators with organising tasks, prioritising work and ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Providing support in resolving any unexpected issues or difficult concerns that arise during the shift.
  • To support Residential Support coordinators to ensure that data is recorded in a timely manner and help with analysing data related to the overnight operations to help identify trends for improvements to be made.
  •  Any other duties, commensurate with the role.

Skills and experience

  • Understanding and experience of university accommodation environment. 
  • Excellent listening and interpersonal skills. 
  • Excellent team working skills. 
  • Ability to work as a team or independently
  • Ability to use social media to promote events to students 
  • Excellent time management skills. 
  • Genuine enthusiasm and a commitment to providing good customer service 
  • Ability to plan, organise and use initiative. 
  • Commitment to inclusive community building, including the ability to support with student concerns.
