This is an exciting opportunity to join the Staffordshire University ResLife team as an RLA Assistant. They are looking for individuals passionate about creating the best University experience for residents.

 

To provide proactive support and engagement, for students living in university managed accommodation. This will be achieved through the delivery of the ResLife events and activities programme. The purpose of this role is to work as part of a team in promoting a community led environment including respectful community living and social activity programmes. There may be delivery of low-level advice and signposting within the role.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Preparing the accommodation blocks and welcome packs for new residents' arrival.

  • Meet and greet residents on arrival to university accommodation, e.g. during Moving in Weekend and Welcome Week.

  • Ensure residents are aware of all induction events and promote attendance. Organise and deliver orientation activities for newly arrived residents and support welcome talks,

  • When on duty visit residential units to support the general well-being of the residents and signpost to any services and facilities required (accommodation drop ins).

  • Report as appropriate any welfare, health, safety, security, or maintenance concerns.

  • Regular liaison and communication with the wider ResLife teams.

  • Assist with the delivery of residential support through proactive visiting and awareness campaigns.

  • Updating and supporting the use of the online ResLife portal.

  • Support resident's management in the evacuation for fire alarm activation and any health and safety procedures.

  • Respond to routine enquiries regarding the services and facilities available within the residences and in the University, always acting in a professional and courteous manner while representing the University.

  • Promote a sense of community and integration amongst residents by organising and attending educational or social activities.

  • Provide peer to peer support to residents and direct as appropriate to other key services within the University.

  • Record any contact with residents and take notes of actions taken, ensuring compliance.

  • Provide regular reports to the Residential Services Coordinator.

  • Plan and communicate information on welfare, safety, and educational campaigns via communication with residents and by displaying information on notice boards and ensure notice boards are kept up to date and that they display only appropriate information.

  • At all times act with consideration to confidentiality, equality, diversity, and protection of data.

  • Mandatory attendance for a one-week residential training prior to student arrivals and supplementary training and support throughout the year.
