Description

Role
The UoN Sports Participation Programme is designed to increase the engagement and participation of students in physical activity, volunteering and inclusive sport. 

Successful candidates will be part of a small but integral team, driving forward the provision and profile of participation sport at the University of Nottingham.
 
This team will receive  support from UoN Sport  staff as well as individual personal development programmes.
 

Black Student Sport x 1 role

  • Knowledge and understanding of Black student behaviour, cultures and the barriers for Black students.
  • Lived experience as a Black student and an understanding of the necessity for Black student representation across sport programmes. 

Disability Sport x 1 role

  • Promotion of the university’s disability sport, activity and fitness offer.
  • Provide disability sport and activity participation opportunities for students..

Just Play x 1 role

  • Support and lead on areas within the Just Play ‘come and try’ programme.
  • Specific targeting of non-engaged students in UoN Sport using innovative marketing and engagement tools.

Leadership Academy x 2 roles

  • The Leadership Academy is the volunteering strand of UoN Sport, providing sports related volunteering opportunities for all students.

Men’s Health Active x 1 role (2 part time roles will be considered)

The Men’s Health Active campaign supports male students to use sport and physical activity to look after their mental health.

Event x 10 roles

Work as part of a small team of event specific ambassadors that support various UoN Sport programmes to provide on the day event assistance.

Duties and responsibilities

Programme Leadership:
• Work with other ambassadors as a team to deliver on UoN Sport objectives.
• Represent the student voice to develop a clear brand identity for Participation Sport and your relevant work programme.
• Support and manage student volunteers / leaders as required to fulfil the remits of your programme.
• Assist with raising awareness across campuses and all student groups on specific programme remits.
• Build partnerships and develop relationships with work programme specific networks.
Marketing and Events:
• Generate innovative ideas to market opportunities within your programme area, including recruitment of volunteers.
• Write regular content and celebrate successes via all available marketing outlets, including UoN Sport blogs and key social media channels.
• Support the planning and delivery of key events and activities.
• Assist with management of event volunteers.
• Work alongside the UoN Participation Sport Social Media ambassador and Sports Marketing Team to promote all activity online.
Data Collection and Monitoring (where applicable):
• Using appropriate University systems, collate and report on relevant data.
• Support the delivery of a robust analysis and evaluation procedure.
• Produce high-quality reports and recommendations to senior management and key stakeholders.
Other:
• Research into best practice within the HE and private sector.
• Attend related training sessions as required.
• Support with other Participation Sport programme administration as required.
• Any other duties as requested by the Participation Sport Staff Team.

Skills and experience

Qualifications:
• Current UG/PG at University of Nottingham (E)
• Minimum of 1 year remaining on degree course (E)
Knowledge:
• Understanding of the barriers to participation in sport and possible solutions (E)
• Knowledge of the physical, mental, and social benefits of participating in sport and physical activity (E)
• Knowledge of key University marketing networks. (E)
• Knowledge of the different UoN Participation Sport programmes (D)
• Knowledge of the Social Model of disability and Equality Act 2010 (D)
Skills:
• Strong communication skills. (E)
• Confident IT user, including Office (E)
• Report writing and presentations (E)
• Design skills, e.g. Adobe Photoshop (D)
• Management of social media channels (D)

Benefits
The pay rate for this role is £11.76 per plus £1.42 holiday pay per hour
