Role

We are currently recruiting for the role of Student Ambassador for Film Studies.

Gain valuable experience and knowledge in the field that you are passionate about by becoming an ambassador for film studies! Influence the next generation of film students, share your knowledge and shape the future of the billion-dollar industry.

Your role will be vital on campus and online to promote and enhance the reputation of the university to prospective film students and their influencers, by dealing professionally, accurately and empathetically with all customers.  

This role is a zero-hours contract. Each shift is advertised to all Student Ambassadors and operates on a register of interest and a first come, first served basis with some exceptions where shifts will be allocated based on your suitability for the role. 

You will be required to support the Marketing and Communications Department including our events and widening participation teams in achieving its marketing and outreach strategy objectives through involvement in activities designed to support the recruitment of students to DMU. This requires committing to a strong customer service culture. You will also be required to support all faculties and other departments, when required, in achieving their recruitment strategy objectives.  

This role will give you invaluable experience and will look very attractive to future employers in the film industry as it shows how passionate you are about your subject. If you are looking for a future in film, this is the role for you!

PLEASE NOTE THIS ROLE IS ONLY OPEN TO CURRENT DMU STUDENTS STUDYING FILM STUDIES.

Duties and responsibilities

The role of a Student Ambassador offers a variety of duties and responsibilities. The list below is representative of, but not limited to the main duties and responsibilities you’ll have during your shifts as a Student Ambassador.   

  • To be competent and professional while expressing your passion as a representative of the university at all times. 
  • To represent film studies and influence the next generation of film students on promotional events such as Open Days and School and College experience days, in a variety of roles. 
  • To maintain a welcoming and friendly atmosphere for visitors to the university. 
  • To conduct tours of the amazing film studies facilities to new prospective students and to share your experience with them!  
  • To assist with the set-up and pack-down of activities on campus.  
  • To take part in photoshoots and video projects that are used across a variety of marketing promotional channels including emails, web, and social media. You have the power to shape the way future students will perceive the university and the film studies course specifically!
  • To share your experiences and how you have succeeded in the form of a case study, either in written or digital form.  
  • To take part in blogs, vlogs and social media take overs to shape the way that film studies is perceived.  
  • To provide passionate information and support, both via telephone, face to face, email and online chats.
  • To provide clerical and administrative support to the Marketing and Recruitment Team as and when required. 
  • To be committed to the Universities ethos and values at all times such as Equalities and Diversity.
  • To be aware of appropriate DMU policies and procedures - including Safeguarding Children, Data Protection, Manual Handling and Diversity. This will be taught in training.
  • Student Ambassadors may be required, from time to time, to fulfil other ad-hoc duties as appropriate to their skills, so you could find yourself getting creative and making a big change within the university.

  • PC Literate
