Role

**************************************Only for MDX Current student or recent graduate*******************************

  • To contribute to a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for children in the nursery

Duties and responsibilities

  • To contribute to a program of activities suitable to the age range of children in your area in conjunction with other staff
  • To keep a proper record of achievement file on your key children for parents
  •  Support all staff and engage in a high level of teamwork
  • Liaise with and support parents and other family members .
  • To be flexible within the working practices of nursery.  
  • Be prepared to help where needed, including undertaking certain domestic jobs within the nursery, e.g. preparation of snack meals, cleaning of equipment, etc.
  • To respect the confidentiality of information received
  • To develop your role within the team.
  • The preparation and completion of activities to suit the child’s and stage of development
  • To ensure that mealtimes are a time of pleasant social sharing
  • Ensure the welfare and safeguarding of children of paramount
  • To ensure the provision of a high-quality environment to meet the needs of individual children from differing cultures and religious backgrounds and stages of development
  • To be aware of the high profile of the nursery and to uphold its standards at all times

Skills and experience

  • Essential Experience of providing care and education to the under-five.
  • Essential studying towards a  BA in Early Childhood Education or Education or an NVQ in Early Childhood Education
  • Enhanced DBS
  • Ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with children
  • Ability to work in partnership with parents
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to work as an active team member

 

Desirable

  • To work effectively with other professionals
  • Ability to observe, assess, plan and implement work programmes for children under 5 and ensure these are shared with parents
  • Ability to keep accurate written records
  • Providing for equality of opportunity and providing an anti-discriminatory practice

Other Job Specific requirements

  • Acceptance of responsibility towards the practical application of Equal Opportunities
  • Awareness and knowledge of the Children Act, Development Matters, EYFS
