Role
***ringfenced to students entering final year of an MPhys or BSc, or currently in their final (BSc or MPhys) year of an Astrophysics/Physics/Engineering degree***

 

There are 4 opportunities for year 2 or 3 undergraduate students to work alongside researchers at the Asytophysics Research Institute, LJMU for 6 weeks during the summer of 2024.Projects include astrophysics theory and observation, and engineering/software development with the New Robotic Telescope team.

The roles provide an opportunity for undergraduates to get real world experience with working in research and engineering and are ideal for students interested in an academic astrophysics research and science instrumentation careers.

Duties and responsibilities
The applicants main duties will include:

  • Independent and self-motivated work towards defined project goals
  • Gaining an understanding of the theory and/or methods to be utilised in the project
  • Development of code/algorithms required for the project
  • Writing a report and presentation for the general ARI faculty about the project outcome

Skills and experience

Undergraduate student entering final year of an MPhys or BSc, or currently in their final (BSc or MPhys) year of an Astrophysics/Physics/Engineering degree.
