Description

Role
The post holder will be working for the Transition Orientation and Induction Team to provide a range of activities supporting new students arriving in September 2024. This is a great opportunity to work within the friendly team overseeing the pre-arrival, welcome and orientation period of the student journey.

Duties and responsibilities
The post holder will work closely with the TOI / LTE team and the role will be required to undertake a range of activities to support transition, orientation and welcome. There will be some desk-based activities associated with co-ordinating activity but much of the work will be hands on assisting with the planning and delivery of welcome and orientation activities. The postholder will be required to be on campus most of the time as this is a ‘hands on’ role with physical tasks related to setting up welcome activities for new and returning students.

Skills and experience
The postholder will assist with the training and supervision of Welcome Ambassadors and must therefore be confident in their ability to give instructions and guidance to others. The ideal candidate must be familiar with the Canterbury Campus and should familiarise themselves with the content of the Welcome Hub and the Welcome Back Hub. Confident use of technology for problem resolution such as finding welcome session locations, liaising with others via MS Teams and generally helping new and returning students is critical. The post holder should be aware of diversity and inclusivity and ensure that they and the Welcome Ambassadors provide a supportive and welcoming environment for all students.
