Programmes:
  • Holiday Clubs (6-12 year olds): Hampshire
  • Teen Project (12-16 year olds): Hampshire, Surrey, Isle of Wight
  • NCS (16 year olds) : Kent and Hampshire (RESIDENTIAL)
 
Salary: £9.64 - £12.82 per hour
NCS Youth Leaders can expect to earn between £500 and £750 per week. This is dependent on pay rate and hours and may be subject to change.
 
Dates:
 
NB: It is compulsory that all candidates are available for mandatory staff training on and the full duration of their chosen waves.
 
NCS Staff Training: 29th - 30th June 2024 (Residential training) 
Teen Project & Holiday Clubs: 27th July 2024 (Non-residential training)

We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our team as Youth Leaders for our upcoming youth programmes!
 
Position Overview:
As a Youth Leader, you'll be at the forefront of transforming the lives of young individuals through our programmes. Your role is not just a job; it's an opportunity to be a positive influence, a mentor, and a guide to young minds during a transformative period in their lives. You will play a crucial role in inspiring and mentoring young participants throughout the NCS programme. Your responsibilities will include leading engaging sessions, ensuring the well-being of participants, and collaborating with a dynamic team to achieve program objectives. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact within the local community and contribute to the personal development of young individuals.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Inspiration and Role Modelling: Be the inspiration and positive role model that young participants can look up to, offering motivation and support.
  • Supervision and Support: Provide supervision, mentorship, and unwavering support throughout our programmes, fostering a positive and inclusive environment.
  • Engaging Sessions: Lead sessions that are not just educational but also captivating and empowering, designed to enhance participants' skills and personal development.
  • Focus on well-being: Collaboration with other staff members and Safeguarding Leads to ensure the well-being of participants is a top priority throughout the programmes.
  • Effective Communication: Communicate seamlessly with senior staff, colleagues, and venue staff to ensure the seamless operation of the programmes.
  • Team Collaboration: Work cohesively with the team to achieve the programme's aims, objectives, and outcomes.
  • Administrative Excellence: Handle key administrative tasks, including registers and incident reporting, with precision and efficiency.
  • Safeguarding: Follow safeguarding procedures meticulously, addressing concerns promptly in accordance with Personal Best Education policies.
  • Guided Reflection: Lead daily guided-reflection sessions, utilising your training to create meaningful moments for participants.
  • Activity Engagement: Support participants in fully engaging with the activities on offer, demonstrating and encouraging active participation.

Skills and experience

  • Experience working with children, young people, local communities, or charitable causes.
  • Excellent verbal communication and collaborative teamwork skills.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Leadership skills, including the ability to manage challenging behaviour.
  • Motivational and encouraging approach to overcoming barriers.
  • Understanding of working with diverse community groups.
  • Experience in safeguarding and providing pastoral support.

Attributes and Knowledge:

  • Passion for working with children and young people to support their personal development.
  • Strong leadership qualities with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Resilient and able to work under pressure.
  • Flexible and adaptable.
  • Problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of Personal Best Education and National Citizen Service (NCS).
  • (Desirable) First Aid Qualification.
  • (Desirable) Qualification in/working towards teaching, coaching, early years, playwork, youth work, or a related field.
