Description

Role
The Maintenance Technicians undertake minor reactive repairs and carry out planned maintenance works including regular painting and decorating, health and safety checks, grounds maintenance, gardening, refuse and recycling management and undertake regular inspections of the gym, ensuring that the equipment is always in good working order.

 
This is a permanent full time role.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Inspect reported repairs, record issues, and note necessary tools and parts. Escalate major repairs to approved contractors.
  • Perform minor carpentry and joinery repairs. Adjust windows and doors, change locks, fit new doors, affix shelving, assemble furniture, and address broken glazing.
  • Complete minor plumbing repairs. Unblock toilets and sinks, change sink wastes, isolate leaks, clean showerheads, change taps, and conduct visual PAT testing.
  • Competently handle minor electrical maintenance. Replace lamps and ballasts, change plugs and fuses, install white goods, and conduct visual PAT testing and emergency lighting checks.
  • Supervise external contractors. Manage Permits to Work, ensuring proper protocols for building access.
  • Maintain grounds, including weed control, shrub trimming, litter picking, and power washing.
  • Undertake regular painting and decorating. Address minor scuffs and damage to minimize wear and tear.
  • Conduct regular Health and Safety Checks. Monitor fire protection systems, legionella water testing, and ensure safe working practices and COSHH management.
  • Monitor plant equipment and maintain appropriate records.

Skills and experience

  • Experience in a trade – experience of general maintenance support in the following areas:
  • Painting and decorating, carpentry, joinery, plumbing, mastic of shower cubicles
  • Qualified and competent to carry out minor electrical repairs (18th edition preferred)
  • Ability to work at pace whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Good time management
  • Good knowledge of Health & Safety legislation
  • Proactive and strong ability to problem solve, multi-task, plan and organise.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and customer-facing skills and ability to deal with difficult situations. Proven ability to engage with customers, colleagues and third-party suppliers.
  • Ability to manage own time effectively, prioritising tasks when required, multitasking and meeting deadlines.
  • A calm and professional manner, able to work without constant supervision.
  • Ability to undertake repetitive heavy lifting with appropriate equipment if necessary.
  • A good understanding of business coupled with a professional attitude. IT literate, competent user of Microsoft Office (Outlook and Word and FM software
