Role
Unitemps are supporting a Stoke-on-Trent based alternate education provider to find patient, highly driven Biology/Science (Double or Triple Award) Tutor to join their friendly team. If you are a student or recent graduate of Staffordshire University this could be the perfect role for you.
You will be responsible for delivering between 5 – 10 hours (flexible hours) sessions per week (Mon – Fri) to small groups or one-to-one teaching.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students who need additional educational and emotional support who want to have a solid foundation for further education.
Duties and responsibilities
Teaching and Learning Responsibilities
- Plan and prepare well-structured, clearly presented lessons appropriate to the abilities of all students and the syllabus being taught and promote high standards of organisation.

Help students develop High Performance Learning skills in line with values and ethos.

Ensure that the lessons are a stimulating environment that facilitates learning.

Generate enthusiasm for the subject being taught and inspire all students to work to their potential.

Promote high standards of behaviour by encouraging a positive, proactive approach to study and build productive relationships with students.

Set homework according to policy and pertinent to the student’s ability and wider workload.

Be punctual to lessons
Student Progress

Provide high-quality, accurate, constructive, and targeted information to parents and students.

Assess, record, and monitor the progress of all students according to guidelines to provide accurate information to parents in a variety of forms, as and when necessary.

Maintain materials and resources as needed.
Skills and experience
As a Science Tutor, you will be responsible for delivering up to 4 sessions per week (based on your availability), to small groups or one-to-one teaching, You must be proficient in ICT and your field and be comfortable working with students from year 7 to 11 (Ages 11 - 16)
