Role

Unitemps are supporting a Stoke-on-Trent based alternate education provider to find patient, highly driven Biology/Science (Double or Triple Award) Tutor to join their friendly team. If you are a student or recent graduate of Staffordshire University this could be the perfect role for you.

You will be responsible for delivering between 5 – 10 hours (flexible hours) sessions per week (Mon – Fri) to small groups or one-to-one teaching.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students who need additional educational and emotional support who want to have a solid foundation for further education.

Duties and responsibilities

Teaching and Learning Responsibilities

  • Plan and prepare well-structured, clearly presented lessons appropriate to the abilities of all students and the syllabus being taught and promote high standards of organisation.
  • Help students develop High Performance Learning skills in line with values and ethos.

  • Ensure that the lessons are a stimulating environment that facilitates learning.

  • Generate enthusiasm for the subject being taught and inspire all students to work to their potential.

  • Promote high standards of behaviour by encouraging a positive, proactive approach to study and build productive relationships with students.

  • Set homework according to policy and pertinent to the student’s ability and wider workload.

  • Be punctual to lessons

Student Progress

  • Provide high-quality, accurate, constructive, and targeted information to parents and students.

  • Assess, record, and monitor the progress of all students according to guidelines to provide accurate information to parents in a variety of forms, as and when necessary.

  • Maintain materials and resources as needed.

Skills and experience

As a Science Tutor, you will be responsible for delivering up to 4 sessions per week (based on your availability), to small groups or one-to-one teaching,  You must be proficient in ICT and your field and be comfortable working with students from year 7 to 11 (Ages 11 - 16)
