Role

Unitemps are supporting a Stoke-on-Trent based alternate education provider to find a patient, highly driven English tutor to join their friendly team. If you are a student or recent graduate of Staffordshire University this could be the perfect role for you.

You will be responsible for delivering flexible hours (Mon - Thurs), to small groups or 1-2-1 teaching. You must be proficient in ICT and be comfortable working with students from year 8 to year 11.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students who need additional educational and emotional support who want to have a solid foundation for further education.

The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced DBS check

Duties and responsibilities

• Encourage high standards in all aspects of tutoring life, particularly in student progress.
• Contribute to the effective and efficient running of the classes.
• Promote a learning culture which is positive, purposeful, and professional.
• Support and motivate students.
• Encourage consultation, review, and improvement.
• Promote high standards of organisation
• Be punctual to lessons

Skills and experience

• Proficient in planning and preparing well-structured, clearly presented lessons appropriate to the abilities of all students and the syllabus being taught and promote high standards of organisation.
• Able to help students develop High Performance Learning skills in line with values and ethos.
• Ensure that the lessons are a stimulating environment that facilitates learning.
• Ability to generate enthusiasm for the subject being taught and inspire all students to work to their potential.
• Possess the kills to promote high standards of behaviour by encouraging a positive, proactive approach to study and build productive relationships with students.
• Set homework according to policy and pertinent to the student’s ability and wider workload.
