Role
With a rich history spanning over 125 years, City, University of London Students’ Union is the primary organisation representing the views of almost 20,000 students at City, University of London to the institution and beyond.
Team City SU is the union’s annual team of student staff who play a vital role in the delivery of the Union’s events and activities throughout the year which starts from Welcome/Fresher’s 2024. In 2023/24 the Union supercharged its events for students delivering events from meet and greets, tote bag painting sessions to CityFest and The Winter Fair. Welcome Week is our busiest time of the year and therefore all Team City SU members are required to be available to work during this period

Duties and responsibilities
• Assist in event coordinating, such as event fire marshalling, scanning tickets and answering attendee queries.
• Contribute creative ideas and themes to enhance event experiences and engage the student body during focus groups.
• Support event setup and teardown, including arranging seating, decorations, audio-visual equipment, and other necessary materials.
• Provide on-site event support, including managing registration/check-in, overseeing event flow, and addressing any attendee needs or concerns.
• Assist in event marketing and promotion efforts through various channels, including social media, Posters, flyering, Newsletters, and campus-wide announcements.
• Gather feedback from attendees and event participants and contribute to post-event evaluations.
• Maintain attendee lists and contact information for effective communication and future event planning.
• Stay informed about emerging event trends, industry best practices, and innovative event concepts.

Skills and experience
• Current enrolment as a student at City University of London.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to multitask effectively.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Experience leading or managing a team or group is preferred but not essential.
• Creative mindset with the ability to contribute innovative ideas to improve the student experience.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to generate excitement around Union activities and events.
• To have a be visible presence during events, that students won’t be afraid to approach.
• Prior experience in event planning, students’ union activities, or related roles is preferred but not required.
• Understanding and commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
• Commitment to sustainability.
• Ability to work flexibly, including occasional evenings and weekends.
