Role
The School of Psychology and Vision Sciences are recruiting a Support worker to provide support to an academic member of staff to enable them to fulfil their research responsibilities. The post holder will carry out a range of tasks to support the member of staff in their research. This will include following the lead researcher’s instructions to fit electrophysiological measurement equipment to research participants.

Duties and responsibilities
• To support an academic member of staff in the acquisition of EEG data and other specialised information by:
- Placing saline in the head via the cap on the head, placing the electrodes into the cap and cleaning the cap.
- Facilitating clear and effective communication with other staff, research students and undergraduate research project students.
- Adhering to relevant health and safety policies and procedures.
- Assisting with analysis of data acquired through testing

Skills and experience
Essential
• Demonstrable interest in learning to contribute to neuroscience and psychology research
• Practical experience and knowledge of working with EEG
• Excellent communication skills – written and verbal
• Ability to prioritise tasks within agreed work schedules
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Team player, ability to work within research group
• Knowledge and interest in neuroscience or cognitive psychology research

Desirable
• Undergraduate Degree in a relevant discipline (for example, Biomedical engineering, Neuroscience, Computer Science or similar) and/or relevant experience.
• Knowledge and experience of working with EEG.
• Experience of working with vulnerable groups, e.g., children or older adults
• Understanding of neurodivergent adults
• Knowledge and experience of statistical analysis
• Enthusiasm for learning psychological research methods.
