Unitemps are acting as an Employment Business, supplying temporary workers, in relation to this vacancy.
Young People First (YPF) is a semi-independent supported accommodation provider that offers a person-centred approach to supported accommodation services for vulnerable young people and young adults, with the view of supporting these young people into being able to live independently and achieve their full potential in life.

Duties and responsibilities
Our Mission
- To safeguard young people from anything and anyone who can harm their welfare
- To support and empower young people to learn and develop the skills they need to become independent
- To celebrate young people's progress by recognising and rewarding their achievements
Job Purpose
To successfully lead young people who are placed with Young People First (YPF) towards independence by setting them SMART objectives and supporting them to achieve these. This includes safeguarding young people appropriately and completing tasks at placements as directed.
Safeguarding
- To read and familiarise yourself with a young person’s paperwork at the beginning of every new assignment.
- To refer to the appropriate manager, immediately, upon any suspicion or evidence of any concern in relation to safeguarding, in accordance with YPF’s safeguarding policies and procedures
- To be alert and aware of young people’s behaviour and raise any concerns that arise through to the relevant manager.
- To identify and communicate risks concerning young people’s safety in relation to people, residence, employment, education, and training, etc.
Support Delivery
- To establish positive relationships with young people
- To work jointly with young people in assessing their support needs, and planning the support the team will deliver to young people to aid their progression
- To apply relevant de-escalation/distraction techniques
- To provide a positive, welcoming and stimulating environment for young people
Communication
- To encourage young people to have a voice and input into the service they receive and to follow up on this accordingly
- To ensure that colleagues (and where appropriate, agencies, families, etc.) are properly informed of any changes or updates concerning a young person’s behaviour and plans
House Duties
- Ensuring general upkeep of the house is to a high standard
- Reporting any maintenance issues to the maintenance team
General Paperwork Duties
- To ensure the production and completion of paperwork are to a high professional standard
- To complete paperwork as set by the Independent Living Worker/Management
- To ensure paperwork is sent to the QA Manager in accordance with the ‘YPF Paperwork Rota’.
Skills and experience
- Confident and able to make good decisions - Essential
- Good written and verbal communication skills, computer literacy skills and strong team working skills - Essential
- Understanding of Equal Opportunity - Essential
- Relevant degree or working towards a relevant degree (however we are happy to have applications from all degree backgrounds if you can demonstrate a passion for supporting people) – Preferred
- Ability to use initiative when meeting a young person for the first time - Preferred
