Description
Role
The Moss House Gym/The Maltings Sports Hall/Summer Row Gym at University College Birmingham is looking to recruit x 3 fitness instructors to assist in the day-to-day operation of all Gym Facilities and Maltings Sports hall. Various shifts/days available including weekends.
Duties and responsibilities
1. To supervise the gym and sports hall areas.
2. To instruct new gym members.
3. To compile personal fitness programmes for gym members.
4. To assist with health promotions.
5. To carry out regular maintenance and equipment checks.
6. To sell products and handle payments.
7. General administrative and reception duties to include: responding to telephone enquiries; greeting and signing in gym members; issuing locker keys; processing membership applications; completion of the normal operating checklist.
8. To assist in Creating and sharing engaging content on our social media platforms.
9. To undergo relevant training as required.
10. To attend regular team meetings.
11. To liaise with the Gym and Fitness Manager regarding rotas and availability.
12. Cleaning duties as required (to include equipment and wet areas).
13. Participate at Open Days and other relevant University events.
14. Any other duties deemed relevant to the post.
Skills and experience
Level 2 fitness instructor or level 3 personal training qualification, DBS, First Aid (Desirable)
Experience in a customer-focused environment Ability to communicate with people at all levels Ability to be punctual Ability to work independently and as part of a team Appropriate gym instruction or personal trainer qualification (BAWLA, ACSM, YMCA, Premier Training) Willingness to undertake First Aid at Work qualification. Approachable manner Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including weekends. Understanding of the principles of Safeguarding.
