To work in the Warwick Clinical Trials Unit’s Programming Team supporting the Unit’s varied and pioneering research projects. The Data Support Analyst will be responsible for designing, testing and deploying reports using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), managing report content on the server and providing end user support and training.

There is flexibility for the hourly rate to increase to £13.88 per hour depending on experience. 
  • Responsible for analysing report requirements and to determine technical specifications.
  • Using SSRS Report Builder to design the layout of the reports.
  • Develop and maintain report data sources using SQL.
  • To oversee the report validation process.
  • To deploy reports onto test and production servers.
  • Administer access to reports by managing folders, security permissions and creating/maintaining subscriptions. 
  • Respond to report related helpdesk calls by providing technical support to ensure incidents are quickly resolved.
  • Support Statisticians and Health Economists by creating and maintaining analyst datasets. 
  • Participate in QA and UAT testing cycles for reports and other software components developed by the Programming Team. 
  • Other duties commensurate with the scope and grading of the role.

Essential Criteria 

  • Educated to A level standard in a relevant computing discipline or equivalent job-related experience.
  • Report design skills using enterprise reporting software preferably SSRS Report Builder. 
  • Ability to write well-constructed, optimized SQL views/queries using SQL.
  • A broad understanding of relational database management systems and database design principles. 
  • Strong analytical, attention to detail and problem solving skills. 
  • Ability to manage own workload, operating independently with minimal supervision. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Self-motivated with the ability to use initiative, meet deadlines and manage changing priorities. 
  • Ability to work with confidential data, follow data safeguarding procedures and an appreciation and understanding of the Data Protection Act and GDPR legislation. 

Desirable Criteria

  • A working understanding of business intelligence and data warehouse concepts.
  • Experience of working in a Clinical Trials Unit or research environment.
