Description

Unitemps are recruiting for a Research Assistant - Legal Expertise to join the UCL Department of Science, Technology, Engineering and Public Policy (STEaPP) on a part-time basis (16 hours per week) for 4 months starting mid-November. The department is also looking for a Research Assistant - Social Science Expertise which you can combine with this job.
 
The post holder will support the work of the First RespondXR team. They will be required to carry out research in the area of law and social science, including searching, collating and summarising legal case law and related published materials, organising interviews, and recording, analysing and writing up research results.

  • Research
  • Contribute to the planning and documentation of the project.
  • Review literature on the research topic and communicate findings to the research team.
  • Carry out data collection and analysis processes in relation to the First RespondXR project’s aims and objectives. These activities may include: 
    • Legal statutory and case law searches on LexisNexis and Westlaw.
    • Expert interviews with stakeholders such as police officials.
    • Transcription and anonymisation of interviews and other data sets.
  • Record and write up results of the data collection and analysis process.
  • Prepare, in consultation with members of the research team, material for publication.
  • Assist the First RespondXR team in the preparation of further funding proposals.
  • Administration and planning
  • Plan own day-to day activities within framework of the agreed research programme allowing for deadlines to be met.
  • Carry out routine administrative tasks associated with the research project to ensure that the project is completed on time and within budget. 
  • Actively follow UCL policies including Equal Opportunities and Race Equality policies.
  • Maintain an awareness and observation of Fire and Health & Safety Regulations.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
  • Collaborate with other Co-Investigators and Research Assistants who are part of the First RespondXR project.
  • Liaison with project stakeholders including the funding body (SPRITE+) on a regular basis
  • Assist in the development and circulation of public dissemination activities and outputs such as flyers and webinars that derive from the research.
