Care / Support Worker in Elham - £12-£14 p/h
Canterbury Christ Church University
Mix of day and waking night shifts
Are you an outgoing support worker with night shift experience?
We are recruiting for a care/support worker to join our happy team, looking after our 14 year old son, who has complex needs. This role would ideally suit a student on a medical course.
He has Cerebral Palsy, affecting all four limbs, complex medical needs, is nonverbal (although communicates extremely well non-verbally and using eye gaze technology). He has epilepsy, (infrequent seizures which are age related), is PEG fed, requires medication day and night, therefore he requires one to one 24 hour care.
The job includes a mix of day and waking night shifts. Night shifts are 12 hours, from either 8pm on school nights or 8.30pm weekends and holidays. These shifts will also include some domestic tasks and then getting him up and ready for school in the morning.
We have a fully adapted home, set up with specialist equipment including ceiling hoists and an adapted bathroom. There is a separate room with an en-suite, for carers to carry out admin tasks.
You will be able to step up to the mark when required but also have the sensibility to know when to step aside. Good hands on care experience is essential, but integrity, common sense and honest communication skills are also vital.
Pay rates are Weekdays £12 per hour / Weekends £14 per hour
Bank Holidays paid at double time
Full training provided
Opportunity to travel with the family on holidays
