Visual Communication is the practice of graphically representing information to efficiently, effectively create meaning. Sensory mapping is a specialist field within Visual Communication recording human-perceived smellscapes and translating collected data into cartographic forms for public exhibition.
Translate static smell map data visualisation into animation for exhibition to indicate moving smellscapes over a period of 200 years; Provide test animations to investigate timings, display options, pacing, rhythm; Design text displays to ensure maximum legibility; Advise on fades and transition options; Render final files for use in exhibition.
Exceptional creativity and innovation. Excellent time management and organisational skills. Accuracy and attention to detail. An understanding of the latest trends and their role within a non-commercial environment. Passionate and enthusiastic. Excellent IT skills, especially with Illustrator and AfterEffects.

This is a chance to learn how practice-based research works in the Creative Arts and Industries. Your final animation will be the opening exhibition at the recently refurbished Catalyst Museum of Industrial Heritage, Widnes, UK from July 2021.
