Full time - Monday to Friday

We have a great opportunity for an industrial machinist to join an equine company on the outskirts of Canterbury.

In the role you will work as a sewing machinist in the production team. The primary focus will be leather stitching, but the role will include working with soft materials - cotton and 3 D spacer fabrics too.

The role will start as a temporary position and become a permanent role after 4 months if you perform well.

You will be working with leather for an expanding saddle manufacturer based close to South Canterbury. The business is in a rural location, so transport is required.
In the role you will working with leather, foam and glues to shape and prepare all component parts which requires patience and an eye for detail. You will need to have a careful and pedantic attitude about the quality of your work, and enjoy working as part of a team whilst also being responsible for your own work.
Must have experience on a Sewing machine, although not necessarily with leather as more advance skills can be taught.
Ideally you will be capable of machining accurately to patterns and within tight tolerances.
